First off, welcome to the new site for the VLC blog.  The VLCs are compiling resources, and we are trying to get everything under the same hood.  So . . . check out our

Here's the latest from around the web.  Hit me up with feedback below.

Learn to Digi-Speak
A new buzz word in the digital world is "curate," a term that has long belonged to the museum world, but has now found a new niche in the digital world.  When you curate something in the digital world, you add to its value.  You use your expertise to edit or pare the content.  Sometimes just your mere selection of an item is the curation.  For example, when you tweet a link, you've curated the link for your followers by adding a stamp of approval or a layer of criticism.  When you create a list of "10 Best Web Resources for Educators," you've curated that list, not just by what you've included, but also by what you've excluded.

So let the curating begin!

Going Mobile
Who thinks it will be required to use smarthphones in the classroom within 5 years?  A survey at the Education Research and Development Institute said "yes," and that was from school district superintendents from around the nation.  Face it, smarthphones are way too powerful, affordable, ubiquitous, and . . . well . . . HIP and NOW to keep out of the classroom much longer!   Most of us wouldn't dream of going to an event without our smartphones or tablets.  So if they're so essential in our daily lives, then why not for our students in the classroom?  Check out the link below for details on making the "mobile revolution" happen.

The Eyes Have It
No one is eager to have a syndrome, but if you live in front of a computer (Need a sign?  You're reading this.), then you are probably developing Computer Vision Syndrome.  Check out this infographic, and see if you and CVS are one.
